What is Clean Eating?

Eat-Clean

Clean eating is a phrase that is thrown around a lot these days.  It’s a trend that is suddenly everywhere, but what exactly does it mean?

The term “clean eating” means choosing the healthiest foods and ingredients and paying attention to where food comes from, registered dietitian nutritionist Rachel Knopf Shey and cookbook author Attila Hildmann say. Clean eating does not necessarily mean using cleanses or eating only raw foods, and the nutrition experts said a good way to begin is to shop at farmers markets for fresh foods and look for grocery items containing fewer than five ingredients.

Eating clean starts by eating seasonally and locally. Check out our new asparagus recipe to learn a new way to take advantage of this in season crop.

In every way, clean eating is all about consuming whole food in its most natural state, or as close to it as possible.
